Event Horizon with POY '79th

24.04.2022

Pre-release news! The "Event Horizon" project is a finalist in the Picture of the Year International 2022 (POY'79), in the Science & Natural History - Picture Story category.

At first glance it is about forms appearing in the structure of ice - but it is not the superficiality of frozen water that is important - the series touches upon the issue of human perception, the way emotions and thoughts are visualized. It reflects the processes that take place in the intimacy of the inner world, the mind, or even something that can be described as the essence of a broader thing. This project can be felt rather than understood or read.

Work on the project is ongoing. The book will premiere in the fall of 2022, published by Dutch company 1605 Publishers founded by Bastiaan Woudt. With foreword by British writer Robert Macfarlane, book design by Ania Nałęcka Milach / Tapir Book Design, curated by Wiktoria Michałkiewicz. The first exhibition of the project will take place at the National Gallery of Art in Sopot, in September 2022, during W Ramach Sopotu Festival curated by Maja Kaszkur.

Pictures of the Year International is a program of the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute at the University of Missouri School of Journalism, and its origins date back to 1944. This year was the 79th edition of the contest.
